The Sailor Cross Tee

The striped sailor tee—traditionally known as the Breton shirt or marinière—began as French naval workwear. In 1858, the French Navy officially adopted it as part of the sailors’ uniform. Created as a functional garment, it later became an enduring symbol of freedom, creativity, and effortless style.

Our interpretation carries this history forward through the spirit of Virtus Label, honoring a life guided by oneness. The intentional Cross embroidery on the back symbolizes carrying your own cross, while the tonal embroidery on the front reads “Live Like Jesus”—a reminder to follow the way of life Jesus showed us.
